Kiwi smoothie with celery and apple juice for electrolytes

This green smoothie is made with celery juice, which is loaded with natural electrolytes. Drink it after your workout or on a hot day if you’re feeling light headed. It’s also a great breakfast smoothie to start off your day. It also has kiwi which is packed with vitamin C to boost your immune system and help you to feel great

 What you’ll need (serves 2):

  • 2 large apples (juiced)
  • 4-5 sticks of celery (juiced)
  • 3-4 kiwis
  • 2 tbsp honey (optional – to taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla

What to do:

  • Peeling kiwis isn’t necessary but it’s usually a personal preference, peel if desired or just wash them thoroughly.
  • Toss everything together in the blender and drink up. It turns brown pretty quickly due to the apple juice, so be quick if you want to drink it pretty.

This smoothie is a bit sour and sweet at the same time. If you keep your kiwi skin on, it will add a bit of extra tartness to the drink. You’ll also be getting some extra fiber and vitamin C though, so it’s a toss up. Try substituting drinks with natural electrolytes for sports drinks. You may notice this drink actually has a bit of a salty flavor, this is because it has SO many electrolytes (salts). Other foods that are high in electrolytes are coconuts, carrots and beets.
